Advanced Solo Contest Results

This past Saturday, members of the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble competed in the Advanced Solo Contest at BMS. We hired professional judges to listen and rate their performances that our students have been preparing individually for the past couple of months. Students could earn a medal with a First Division Superior rating, a ribbon for a Second Division Excellent rating, or just their comment sheet for a Third Division Average rating. Judges also named Outstanding Performers based on their preference from the ones that went above and beyond.

Out of 93 events, 69 of them were rated First Division Superior, which is 75% of the total! There were 18 Second Division Excellent ratings, and 6 Third Division Average ratings. Please join us in congratulating the following 14 students who were named Outstanding Performers:

  1. Ellen M., flute
  2. Shyam R., flute
  3. Maddie T., flute
  4. Charlie B., clarinet
  5. Noah M., alto saxophone
  6. Gia S., baritone saxophone

Spring Trip Reminders

Remember that trip forms and all money are due no later than Friday, April 12 at 4pm in order to attend our Fine Arts Spring Trip to Typhoon Texas (Austin) on Saturday, May 11. This is a hard deadline since we have to order tickets by this time and we will not be accepting any late submissions. The trip eligibility & intention form can be found here for your convenience.

If you haven’t already, please click here to review our dress code slideshow that we will be going over with the students today in class. Please use this guide when purchasing swimwear for your students.

After next week, we will be passing out the Permission Form for you to complete and have your student return by Friday, May 3. This contains important medical information and parent contact information in the event we need help for your student. Students will also be writing down their bus partner with whom they would like to sit with on the bus.

Lastly, we would like to have any adult who is attending the trip (on the bus or in personal vehicle) to attend our brief Trip Parent Meeting on Monday, May 6 in the Band Hall at 5:30-6:00pm. We will be going over the details of the trip to get on the same page in regards to expectations, procedures, and to ensure we have a great trip! Any parent is welcome to attend this meeting.

As always, please contact a director if you have any questions, and thanks for your help to create a great spring trip this year!
