Spring Trip Reminders
Remember that trip forms and all money are due no later than Friday, April 12 at 4pm in order to attend our Fine Arts Spring Trip to Typhoon Texas (Austin) on Saturday, May 11. This is a hard deadline since we have to order tickets by this time and we will not be accepting any late submissions. The trip eligibility & intention form can be found here for your convenience.
If you haven’t already, please click here to review our dress code slideshow that we will be going over with the students today in class. Please use this guide when purchasing swimwear for your students.
After next week, we will be passing out the Permission Form for you to complete and have your student return by Friday, May 3. This contains important medical information and parent contact information in the event we need help for your student. Students will also be writing down their bus partner with whom they would like to sit with on the bus.
Lastly, we would like to have any adult who is attending the trip (on the bus or in personal vehicle) to attend our brief Trip Parent Meeting on Monday, May 6 in the Band Hall at 5:30-6:00pm. We will be going over the details of the trip to get on the same page in regards to expectations, procedures, and to ensure we have a great trip! Any parent is welcome to attend this meeting.
As always, please contact a director if you have any questions, and thanks for your help to create a great spring trip this year!

Temple JazzFest Results
For the second time in recent history, the BMS Jazz Band received straight first division superior ratings at this year’s Temple Jazz Festival! The judges were very complimentary of our performance, and one of them thought we sounds like a high school group! Here are some of their comments:
- “Time and intonation is nice.”
- “Sounds really nice – great spirit.”
- “Balance is really nice – I can hear all the sections.”
- “There’s a lot of really awesome musicianship in this group!”
The following students were named outstanding soloists and received a certificate:
- Phoenix M., alto saxophone
- Eli P., piano
- Clint D., trumpet
- Jakoby P., tenor saxophone
- Gia R., drums
Thanks to our parent chaperones who helped out and cheered on our group, as well as for the great pictures taken, which can be found here. You can hear the audio recording of our performance here, as well as the YouTube video link here.
Congratulations to our stellar jazz musicians!
